Do you like white coffee? No, not just coffee that added with milk. In Malaysia, we have this popular coffee namely Ipoh white coffee. The coffee beans are roasted with margarine and without any sugar which resulting a less dark roast. It was widely available in instant version with famous brands like Old Town, ChekHup, Super and etc.
At the beginning, hubby and me liked the Old Town white coffee very much, we even get my cousins from Hong Kong addicted to this coffee. Then, at the beginning of this year, hubby's friend introduced us Super, and we instantly fell in love with it as the flavor is much stronger and richer than Old Town's. Go get it if u still haven't try it, "I dare you try! 我叫你试!" (The slogan of its advertisement) :)
This is the 2 in 1 version (without sugar)
Since the coffee is so aromatic, I believe it would smell and taste good if I use it in chiffon cake, thus I gave it a try yesterday. Well, the smell and taste of coffee is not as strong as I expected, I should have use the whole sachet instead of 1/2 only.
I altered the recipe from the vanilla milk chiffon cake slightly to make do with this.
90ml sugarless "Super" white coffee (mixed 1/2 sachet with 70ml warm water)
120g superfine flour
5 egg yolks
5 egg white
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
You may refer to the step here. However, I changed the baking temperature and time to 180C for 30 minutes.
Didn't shake hard enough b4 baking, which resulting plenty of air bubbles captured in the cake :(
