Bear-bear Pasta Bento (316)

Bought a few bags of pasta from S'pore during the Dec school holiday, one of it was this bear-bear shaped pasta.

I accidentally over-cooked the pasta, and it turned a bit too soft, it was broken apart after I mixed in the sauce, luckily little girl didn't give me any fuss while having it for lunch :p

Used about 30 minutes to prepare the bolognese sauce as I gotta cooked it from scratch, then about 10 minutes to pack the bento.

Luncheon Meat, Cabbage & Dried Small Shrimps Fried Rice

My bowl of fried rice

A few weeks ago, I found this dried small shrimps 虾皮 at Seremban market, I didn't buy it until last Sun, decided to get a little to try out the taste.  MIL was worried when I said I wanna buy it, she even asked the shopper could it be edible by human :p

I sauteed the dried small shrimps with a bit of oil with medium flame, they got crispy & fragrant after the heating process with a nice golden brown color.

I simple put together luncheon meat and cabbage for the fried rice and top it with the cooked dried small shrimps, it was so fragrant & yummy!

Green Tea Chiffon Cake

I didn't bake anything for little girl on her 2010 birthday, since it is her Chinese calender birthday today, I decided to bake her a simple cake with the limited ingredients I had on hand.

Ingredients
90ml milk
110g self-raising flour
10g green tea powder
5 egg yolks
30g honey
60g oil

5 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
60g sugar

Shared 1/2 of the cake with my friends, all of them thot that I'd baked a pandan chiffon when they looked at the color :p

Rice Paper Wraps Bento (312)

It is little girl's Chinese calender birthday today, I made 3 pink hard-boiled eggs for our breakfast, but little girl took all 3 (2 into her tummy & 1 for the bento)!!

Little girl had her 1st experienced making and eating the rice paper wraps during the school holidays which was introduced by BIL, she loved & enjoyed it very much.  Thus when I told her that I making this for her bento, she was really delighted and insisted to do the wraps herself.

I got the ingredients ready in the morning, blanched and sliced.  The ingredients I prepared for the wraps were cucumber, baby corns, chicken frank and a dash of mayo.

I couldn't tell how much time I used for this bento, as it was partially prepared by little girl which was kaka-caucauing most of the time.

Less Than 3 Minutes Bento (311)

I'd off my alarm this morning, instead of snoozing it, thus I was left with 50 minutes to brush, bento, shower, dress up, make up & extreme light breakfast (the leftover bread crust from the bento), I was really on fast forward mode til I managed to leave the house.

The bento was completed in less than 3 minutes, it was a butter and marmite sandwich, cut with the mold and inclusive of 2 baby mandarins.

Luckily little girl has agreed to have sandwich for her bento instead of others that involving cooking process, phew...

Me:  Seaweed?

Happy New 2011 Rabbit Year Bento (309)

Happy New Year!  Wishing everybody who read this blog all the best in this cute little rabbit year :p

I'm sorry that I was absent for almost a month, as it was school holiday, I don have to prepare bento,  also, I was busy with assignments at work during the period.

Now, school starts today, little girl was very excited this morning, waked up early for her tuition (yeah, I have started her tuition for Malay & Chinese, cos I find myself can't really teach her the Malay anymore), lunch & off to school happily.  Psss....  she didn't show any 'drama' at all this year, I am so glad that my little girl has grown up at last :)

Back to the bento, I promised little girl to make her rabbits bento as it is the year of rabbit.  And when I asked her what she wanna have for the bento, she said rice which was very rare as she hated rice, when I questioned her for reason, she told me that rice is white and it matches the color of rabbit :p  so sweet, made my life so much easier :)

Used about 20 minutes for the bento.

Rabbits (white rice, sausage & nori) were on a ground (pieces of roast duck) of grass (shredded cucumber) and flowers (baby corn)

Left: 2 baby mandarins
Right top: a bear container of ketchup & mayo
Right bottom: more roast duck & baby corn flowers
