Happy Birthday, Ah Ba!

We celebrated my dad's birthday yesterday, it was a day full of Hainanese delicacies.

We started off with making the Hainanese steamed cakes 'hi bua' (in Hainanese), which is one of my dad's old time favorite. I gotta recipe from Yum Yum magazine recently. This steamed cake is very difficult to get nowadays as very few peoples making or selling it. After making the cakes, I found it not only delicious but easy too.

We had the 'hi bua' with ginko & barley sweet soup (白果薏米糖水) cooked by mum, yummy!

At the evening, bro suggested to goto the Kheng Heong Restaurant which is situated at Brickfield.

It is owned by Hainanese, the food r superdelicious!

We started with this tofu soup

Fish head with chilies (red chilies, green chilies, bird eyes chilies and dried chilies)

I love this dish, almost down the whole plate of rice with its gravy.

Fried squids

I like this too, it was not like those ordinary fried squids but with a little surprise => it was filled with mayo

Boxing chicken

This was a hit among the kids, little girl ate 3!

Marmite pork ribs

I didn't try this, as they were all in big pieces, however, the marmite gravy was tasty.

What a wonderful day, all tummies were full & filled with satisfactions.

Restaurant Mama Kitchen

If u know the famous Garlic Roast Pork Wantan Noodle from Jalan Sultan (near Petaling Street, KL), this is their branch at Tmn Tun.

We went there for lunch last Fri, we ordered:

Yup, the garlic roast pork wantan noodle (RM8), a bit too sweet to hubby and my taste, but little girl loved it.

Claypot mince pork lou shi fan (RM7), yummy, we liked it very much, 

and it come in quite a big pot too.

Ginger, spring onion and pork liver soup (RM6), though soup was nice, the liver was hard and over cooked, thumb down on this.

Overall, I'd say we enjoyed the food there very much, next time gotta try their yong tao fu, which is another of their famous dish.

An Eventful Sunday!

Sent little girl with her little cousin Y to an art n craft class at MFAH @ Atria. They enjoyed the work very much, SIL and me decided to sign them up for a 4 lessons course.

Brother and Big Girlie picked us up after their class, we headed to The Curve for lunch, shopping and snapped lot of photo on its X'mas decorations.

Little girl called herself "My Melody" with a new hair bend SIL bought her

We watched the 食尚玩家 last nite, their 美食侦探 (food spy) 浩角翔起（阿翔&浩子）introduced this restaurant at Hainan Village in Port Klang, brother was drooling over the food they showed (especially the grilled crabs), thus with his determination, we were having our dinner there.

No more Jalan Alor

Read this from newspaper few days ago, there is no longer Jalan Alor, now the new "Jalan Kejora" (photo taken from The Star), what do u think?

Seremban market

We went to Seremban market almost every weekend to have brunch with MIL (mother-in-law). Whenever we asked little girl what'd she like to eat, her answer was always "aunty beef mee".

This is the stall we frequented almost every Sunday, 發記牛腩粉.  This is not the well known stall but we just like the taste of its sauce and soup than the popular one.  Usually little girl would go order her own bowl of noodle by herself, she don allow me to follow her, I had to kept a close eyes on her when she walk there herself.

This was my bowl of noodle, I'd taken half of it.  The noodles was 瀨粉 "lai fan" soaked in black thick sauce with a few pieces of stewed beef, I know it didn't sound yummy, but trust me, it tasted really delicious.  

This was little girl's, she likes to add in some beef soup to her noodle. Sometimes, she may finish the whole bowl of noodle (not the beef, she don like it) herself!

We usually sit near this stall, 永香茶室, because it is more breezy here, and the aunty is always friendly.

This is little girl's second favorite stall.  She'd only eat the cuttle fish mee hoon here.  Again, this is not the popular stall (the popular cuttle fish mee hoon stall is just on the left side of this stall), MIL frequented this stall most of the time thus we followed.  

Little girl offered to take all the above photos for me.  All the aunties and uncles from the stalls too were happy to see little girl taking their photos.  Thanks, girl and well done!
